We got started in the Salt Lamp Business while traveling throughout Europe looking for new products to bring to the USA. As we stopped in Poland and Germany we were amazed to see that the ancient Salt Mines, formed at the beginning of time, were the source of a unique Health and Beauty oriented product: The Salt Lamp!

We were just blown away by the beauty and natural simplicity of the product. For years, the Salt Mines have drawn crowds of patrons who believe in the healing properties of the Salt Stone and the Salt Brine the mines naturally produce. This subterranean treatment, known as either Halotherapy or Spelaeotherapy, consists of entering Spas built into caves deep below the Earth’s surface, and surrounding yourself with the Natural Salt. Doctors send their patients to these Salt Mine Spas for their curative powers. Some European countries now pay for these treatments under their Health Plans.

At the time we were doing our research overseas, the buzz around the Salt Lamp was that it was a “home version” of the Salt Spa and that it could aid in curing aliments and diseases such as Asthma, Migraines, and Allergies. It was also promoted as a Natural Ionizer (performing the same function as a Sharper Image Ionizer), purportedly clearing the air of all the harmful Ions that were polluting our breathing environment. Salt Crystals, dissolved in bath water, are believed to ease aching muscles while purifying the skin. Salt Bars are used to help reduce skin irritations including Eczema, Warts, Psoriasis and other skin inflictions.

With our eyes wide open, we roamed throughout Europe we saw Salt Lamps and Natural Salt Products in Spas, Boutiques, Restaurants and in many people’s homes. Apparently, the phenomenon had been building there since the mid 90’s and we’d failed to notice it.

As we continued our journey to Asia and then deep into the Himalayas we told the story of the “new” item we found. It was there, in Pakistan, that we were told of their Salt Mines that had been supplying the Salt trade for thousands of years and that had been one of the favored prizes of Alexander the Great’s many conquests. Salt became the leading food preservative and then seasoning for the entire world.

We made arrangements to visit the mines in Kewra and the Gola Valley at the foothills of the Himalayas and were astonished by the difference in quality and color of the Salt from that which we had just recently seen in Poland. This beautiful Himalayan Salt contained colors from White to Orange, and from Pale Pink to Ruby Red, and contained striations and glistening Crystals that were far superior in beauty to the Salt sold in Europe.

We began a relationship with the Gola Valley Salt traders and found a broker to procure our first shipment of this wondrous Salt. Our initial experiences were disastrous, the Salt Lamps we received were poorly carved, had mold on the bases and other issues that may have been acceptable to them, but nowhere near the standards we had set for bringing this product to market here in the United States.

We quickly found that finding professional manufacturers was a difficult challenge… many promises were made with no skills in place to see the project through to completion. Of course everyone was eager to have a paying job, as the country is poor. Many people expressed an interest in working with us.

After the first year, fraught with bad luck (you can read about our experiences in the “Importing” section), we began to invest in setting up our own operation there. We searched for the best craftsman to chip and carve the Salt exclusively for us. We were then able to assure that no children were used in the labor of creating our Salt Lamps and that the workers received fair wages, benefits and proper working conditions.

Since our early days in the Salt Lamp business we have furthered our quest and continued to improve our product offerings. Concentrating on making what we feel are the best quality Natural Salt lamps at a competitive price, our investments have allowed us to be honest regarding our quality, production, and shipping services.

We currently supply many large Salt Lamp companies in the US and throughout Asia and South America, in bulk quantities from our production facilities overseas. They in turn have created Stores, Mall Kiosks, Websites and Wholesale Accounts with Spas, Health Food Stores, Gift Stores and other Retail establishments. Sales continue to grow in this category as more and more Americans get to experience the Natural beauty of these Lamps and Tea Lights.

Our Cool Color Crystal™ Salt Lamps, complete with 6 color bulbs that enable you to change the lamp’s color to match your mood or dйcor, originated as an idea from teenaged cousin Holly who thought color Salt Lamps would be “cool”.

Our devotional Collection was the result of a meeting one of the owners had with a Parish Priest at a trade show.

We use only the finest quality salt and components for our line. We have the best quality carved lamps sent to a furniture maker in China who crafts beautiful lacquered wood bases and assembles our lamps.
